As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Japanese Edo period (1615-1868) circa: 1800 Ivory Netsuke depicting Fukurokuju aside a seated Deer, he is one of the Japanese lucky Gods of good fortune , the artist has captured a delightful scene of a seated Fukurokuju attending to his companion , the Netsuke is well carved and has aged a lovely mellow colour , a great addition to your Netsuke or Japanese works of art collection .
 
Notes:
 
The god of wisdom, good luck and longevity Fukurokuju is shown with a very high forehead, usually he is accompanied with a stag, another symbol of longevity, sometimes by a tortoise and a crane.
