A Very Unusual and Interesting Victorian Mahogany Collectors Cabinet. Circa 1870.

Description

A most unusual and novel victorian mahogany collectors cabinet circa 1870, housing 20 hinged, book style store boxes which are base and top lined with papered cork and would have housed a collection of insects. These boxes are numbered and each slides into a recess within the cabinet. They lend themselves to a very wide range of collectables and are deep enough to house all sorts of objects.

The cabinet is constructed of mahogany and has a working lock and key. The left hand door has a pair of brass shoot bolts. Solid mahogany internally fielded panels are fitted to each door. The condition is original and good.

Height. 45.5 inches.

Width. 32.25 inches.

Front to back. 18 inches.

Store boxes.

Width. 14 inches.

Front to back. 14 inches.

Overall depth. 3.5 inches.
