Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It comes with a working lock and key and to the interior there are 2 removable shelves which are lined the back in original red velvet. Would work well as a music cabinet or as a bookcase. Dating from circa 1890.

Original condition with wear and marks commensurate with age. Some dents and scuffs to top and edges (see photos) and a small split to the top which has been filled with wax. Some small veneer loss to base on lower right hand side. Interior appears original, faded and worn commensurate with age.
