Description

William IV rosewood side cabinet fitted one drawer

This William IV rosewood side cabinet with one drawer above a cupboard below.

The cupboard with a pair of brass grilled doors, that open to reveal the open storage area with 2 adjustable full width shelves.

Each side of the grilled doors, are turned half-rounded columns, finished with a carving to each side of the drawer above.

There is a brass dividing bar running down the front edge of the opening door.

This chiffonier sideboard stands on a plinth base.

When this Chiffonier sideboard was first made the Duke of Wellington was Prime Minister and George IV had passed away leaving his brother William IV to be King.

It was exciting times also as the Liverpool and Manchester railway had just opened. This was worlds first inter city passenger railway operated by solely steam locomotives. At the opening a Liverpool MP (William Huskisson) was killed by Stephenson’s Rocket, thus being the first railway casualty.
