Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The table retains the original brass castors. The chequered inlaid games board is in very good condition, there is evidence of historic repairs to the legs and repairs to one of the scroll feet, and some wear to the gilded decoration on the back panel, these are shown in the photographs. This stunning and unusual country house games table incorporates all the fashionable and best design elements of the Victorian period and was obviously made to a high specification. An outstanding example of Victorian japanned furniture.
