Thomas Blundell Dublin Georgian Irish Longcase Clock

Description

An Irish Georgian period longcase clock. A quality mahogany case of good proportions with an architectural pediment with carved detailing as often seen on Dublin cases. Tapered hood columns and trunk side columns. An arched trunk door with choice flame mahogany and shaped top sides. An early example of a square painted dial with raised gilt corners, seconds and date aperture. Matching serpentine blued steel hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Thomas Blundell of Dublin is recorded in Baillies' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1766-1824.
