Antique Silver Sugar Tongs & Cream Ladle.

19th century
Description

Rare set of early 19th century silver sugar tongs and matching cream ladle, the ladle was used for spooning milk or cream from a bowl and then measuring into your cup. Cream bowls were more prevalent in Europe than in Britain at this time. Of plain design with a pointed terminal, this good size set is well hallmarked and very collectable. Made in what is now Poland, but part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at this period, the hallmarking system gave similar full details to the British method. Very useful!

Warsaw. c.1830. Tomasz Klimaszewski.
