A Fine Quality Satinwood Victorian Period Ladies Writing Table

19th century
Description

A fine quality satinwood Victorian Period ladies writing table. The upper section having brass galleries, two open shelves, two marquetry inlaid compartments and twin shaped small drawers with fine ribbon, swag and urn inlaid detail. The lower section of bow front outline having a satinwood top above two mahogany lined drawers again with fine marquetry and pen-work detail and kingwood cross banded detail. Supported on elegant square tapering supports united by a shaped under-tier. This desk is finished all around so it could be used freestanding or in the centre of a room. Although un-marked it was probably made by Maple & Co or James Shoolbred. English circa 1890-1900

Dimensions: 33" wide x 23" deep x 44" high

Condition: This desk is in excellent original condition, cleaned and waxed
