As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Beautiful Meiji period ( 1868-1912) c1880, Japanese carved Wood & Shibayama Netsuke depicting a stylised Butterfly, the artist from this well known family has inlaid the Butterfly using many different mediums, these include a contrasting Wood, Mother of Pearl , Ivory , Tortoiseshell and a Gold coloured metal, artist signed to the rear in a two character Mother of Pearl tablet that translates to Read '' Shibayama'' , therefore actually made by one of the Shibayama family, a fantastic addition to your Netsuke or Japanese works of art collection ,or just as a beautiful gift for a loved one !
