Robert Allen Design Studio ~ Pattern Numbers and the pattern number E247, Ref. Doulton ~ Pattern Numbers. All this plus impressed Maker's Mark, DOULTONS, together with the impressed date code 8-02 for August 1902. Interestingly, the artist's father, Enoch Piper, whose speciality was the painting of heraldic designs, created an armorial plaque in 1902 to commemorate the granting to Doulton of the Royal Warrant by King Edward VII in 1901 and this stunning design was displayed proudly at the Nile Street, Burslem factory for many years.
