Antique Mahogany Shaped Front Pedestal Writing Desk

A superb quality Edwardian inverted breakfront mahogany pedestal writing desk with concave corners and gilt tooled leather inserts circa 1900.

This fine quality mahogany desk has been made in the early Georgian style having fully oak lined drawers with superb quality twin locks. This pedestal desk being earlier than most has been constructed in the same manner as a Georgian desk with hand cut oak lined dovetailed drawers and twin pin brass locks as a Georgian desk would have.

This writing desk has an inverted moulded breakfront top with three cross banded mahogany panels having newly inset gilt tooled tan leather writing surfaces. The top containing three frieze flame mahogany fully oak lined drawers sit above a pair of concave cornered pedestals each with three graduated flame mahogany drawers which retain their original brass swan neck handles. Each drawer being fully oak lined with handcut dovetails, cockbeaded with central brass locks.

The desk being finished and polished to all sides making it able to stand freely within the room and comes into three parts for ease of transport.

Raised on shaped bracket feet this very attractive mahogany pedestal writing desk has a wonderful faded flame mahogany colour and is being offered in excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods.

A very good example of a mahogany Georgian style pedestal desk having good quality flame veneers with an excellent shape and proportions.
