A superb quality early 19th Century mahogany escritoire, with ormolu beading running underneath the top along the sides and front, the front of the cabinet having a mahogany lined frieze drawer with ormolu mounts either side, the drop down fall opening to reveal a wonderful fitted interior with various drawers and compartments, the drop down fall also acts as a writing slope which is lined with a black leather writing surface which is decorated with blind tooling, flanked either side are columns with lovely quality ormolu mounts at the top, the bottom of the escritoire having three long graduated mahogany lined drawers with lion mask handles, supported on bold carved giltwood lion paw feet. Circa 1820.
