Description

A superior quality Victorian harlequin davenport made from fine walnut and burr walnut veneers. The hidden sprung stationary compartment with a boxwood interior and a very good pierced gallery which when closed shows a conforming pierced gallery. The piano shaped fall opens to reveal a 2 drawer interior and an adjustable pull out writing/reading slope which retains the original green and gold tooled leather writing surface, an ebonised pen tray and 2 partitions for ink pots. The panelled front with good quality carved and pierced decorative supports which rest on the concave shaped plinth with turned bun feet and hidden castors. The right hand side with 4 mahogany lined drawers all with turned walnut knobs, brass escutcheons and working locks(with keys). The left side with false drawers and similar turned knobs and escutcheons. The freestanding back with matching burr walnut panel and applied mouldings. The whole in A1 condition.
