Loveday Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This extremely well-constructed pedestal desk has been made in the Queen Anne – George I style.
Fully oak lined with front to back drawer linings which are not recessing into the sides they run the whole width of the drawer. End grain moulding is also prominent along with quality engraved brass back plates and swan neck handles.

The rectangular top having a newly fitted tan and gilt tooled leather writing surface enclosed by a crossbanded boarder and crossgrain moulded edge sits over one long and two shorter oak lined frieze drawers. Each with crossbanded edges and engraved brass swan neck handles. Both smaller drawers have escutcheon plated handles, below which are twin pedestals each containing three drawers. The pedestals are walnut veneered and also crossbanded to each side and the rear, again showing attention to detail.

The desk is finished and polished to all sides making it able to stand freely within the room and comes into three parts for ease of transport.
Raised on a crossgrained moulded edge and shaped bracket feet this very attractive walnut pedestal writing desk has a wonderful colour and is being offered in excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods.

A very good example of an early Queen Anne style desk that has a very good patina, colour and has been constructed using original methods.
