Handsome Antique Travelling Pocket Watch in Case - Tortoise Shell

Description

A wonderful Victorian pocket watch case, very special with the front panel made from a superb piece of antique tortoiseshell with a lovely shiny patina.

There is a silver shield shaped mount to the top which has some a decorative monogram and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1896 together with the makers mark J. A.

The case backing and folding easel is made from supple burgundy coloured leather, the hinge and push button catch are in good working order.

The case comes complete with the pocket watch which is working (I was informed that it had been inspected and checked by a watch expert, and I have had running just fine). It has a wonderful crisp and clean enameled dial, very elegant and without damage to the dial.

A handsome piece in excellent condition and measuring 4 1/2" x 3 1/2".
