Regency Chinese Export Bamboo Elbow Chair. Circa 1815

Rare early 19th. century Chinese export bamboo elbow chair of unusual hexagonal form with intricate paneled back with curved bamboo decoration. Panels repeated in frieze under seat. Has curved arms with bamboo trellis within. Plain triple bamboo legs with double bamboo stretchers. Original cane seat having material squab. All in fine original condition with no breaks. Wonderful soft colour with great patina. Similar chairs can be seen in The Pavilion at Brighton.
