Antique French Stagecoach Safe by Bauche C.1870

Description

A stunning and very hefty travelling safe, made in France in around 1870.

The cast iron has been professionally re-polished to create a modern industrial looking gem. This incombustible safe is lined inside, the lining being instrumental in keeping the items inside safe from fire. These boxes were used for important documents or jewellery, and were often used by diplomats travelling.

The front has a handsome label marked Bauche Brevete S.G.D.G. Dieu et mon Droit.

This is a heavy piece and worldwide shipping is included. Excellent condition complete with a working lock and key. 13" x 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" tall or 9" tall to top of folding handle while upright.
