Rare Japanese 18th Century Edo Period IVory Tonkotsu - Carved With Dragons

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this finely carved Edo Period Ivory Tonkotsu (Tobacco container) circa 1780 , the oval section lidded container is finely decorated with a three clawed Dragon skimming above the waves and grasping a Tama , the original cover also repeats this decoration , the Tonkotsu is fitted with an inset ivory base as well as Silver rings to accept the old leather cords , the cords decorated with Coral beads , the leather cords tied with a wooden Ojime bead carved with Handaka Sonja and his Dragon , the Eyes inset in metal , probably made by a Kyoto school Netsuke carver in the latter part of the 18th century , a very rare survivor to be in this condition , a cracking addition to your Japanese works of art or smoking utensil collection
