Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell, repeating hours at will and it retains its original lever platform escapement engraved with the Soldano "JS" trademark.
The enamel dial, with its gilt mask, is original and in fine condition as are the blued steel Breguet "moon" hands. 6.25ins (handle up); 3.5ins wide; 3.25 ins deep. (16.5 x 9 x 8.25cms)
