Large Norfolk Weight-driven Wall Clock

Mark. Read of Aylsham: an impressive early 19th century mahogany 'NORFOLK' WALL CLOCK in perfect working order.

Typical of large wall clocks to be found in East Anglia, the case is of well-figured mahogany; crossbanded to the long trunk door, with a reeded solid rosewood surround to the dial. The 8-day weight-driven movement has a long pendulum, the original painted convex dial and large blued steel hands. Complete with original lead weight. 50ins high; 8ins deep; the dial 15ins diameter. (126 x 20.5 x 38cms).

***Mark Read worked as a clockmaker in Aylsham (Norfolk) from 1800-1822, together with brother Matthew, who was apprecticed in 1770 and died in 1826.
