Victorian Teak Campaign Chest

19th century
Description

Victorian teak campaign chest

This Victorian teak campaign chest would have been ordered by a British officer for use in India and the North West frontier.

It was made of teak due to its durability and resistance to insects and sea water.

This Victorian campaign chest has the unusual feature of having brass lozenge shaped inserts covering the securing bolts of the lid, and also the exposed large brass slot headed screws. These both make it interesting to look at. Although the original reason for them was to make this very strong in the rigours it was going to be put through as it was transported by wagon, mule , ship or even Camel around the East.

These are fascinating conversation pieces, that make wonderful coffee tables as well as providing fantastic storage.

Imagine the conversations this will strike up with your family and friends as they admire this superb piece of campaign furniture.
