Youngs Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The lower section of the columns have a small band of gesso egg and dart moldings, these are the only areas with applied gesso moldings. The columns have a carved and gilded grape vine that climbs all the way to the finely turned tops. These Torchere stands would be ideal for a pair of marble busts/ urns or even a pair of decorative plant pots with some cascading flowers like a Lobelia or petunia. The columns have some old minor restorations and some cracking/paint loss commiserate with age but otherwise are in excellent condition.
