Hingstons of Wilton has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

Made in fine mahogany, with the usual slatted sides and shelves. The bookcase stands on the ash cross base that is fitted with its original china and brass castors. A pole runs up from the stand, through the body of the bookcase, to allow it to revolve.

Normally it would be thought, that this type of bookcase was made in the early 20thc. but inside this example we found the cabinet makers monogram and the date it was made, including …….. Exhibit 1889. This is in the frame, under the top. (this was only found as the top was loose, we have now secured the top back in place, but you have the images for a record)
