A 19th century portrait of a gentleman, follower of Sir Thomas Lawrence. The sitter as yet unidentified,
is seated in a chair, wearing a black suit, white shirt and cravat, with a spaniel at his lap.
The painting is an Oil on canvas. The size overall being 120 x 99 cm (47 x 39 inches approx) whilst the painting is 89cm by 69cm (35 x 27 inches approx)
Housed in a gilt frame ready to hang.
The general condition is very good. The original canvas has been cleaned and varnished. As with most paintings of this age there has been some restoration, Minimal and minor delicate re-touching to the face and within the white tie and cravat also some general strenthening.
There is some Fine- large sized cracquelure throughout surface, also some Slight creasing of canvas to top corners (see photo). The gilt frame has some minor losses which are self coloured. Overall the above does not detract from a very pleasing portrait.
