Sold by: Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this lovely quality Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Silver, Enamel and Ivory miniature table screen, this well considered collaborative piece is first formed as a solid Silver frame in the style of bamboo which folds on a pair of finely chased reversible central hinges, the lower panels are decorated in multi coloured Enamel Flora to each side, the main focus is captured in a pair of finely carved Ivory panels which depict two opposing sea Dragon amidst swirling and crashing waves, the screen further detailed with finely etched decorative brackets between the feet , the left hand panel is signed with a two character Ivory seal signature which translates to read '' Yoshiyuki'', however this Japanese work of art was clearly a collaboration of at least two artists, a Silversmith and probably an Enamellist, a very unusual and fine quality screen.
