Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
Very attractive pointed ogee shaped raised and fielded door panels. Canted corners, diamond shaped bone escutcheons and tall bracket feet. Unusually the cornice features bone inlays carved with the name Sara Rees, presumed to be the original owner to whom the press may well have been given as a wedding gift. Whilst we believe these to be original to the piece it seems the middle inlay, dated 1826, is a later addition. Very good condition with some earlier restorations. The brass drawer handles are period replacements.
Dimensions: width 56", depth 21", height 54½".
