William IV Silver Vinaigrette Nathaniel Mills 1837

18th century
Description

Lovely large William IV silver vinaigrette by Nathaniel Mills. Pretty cross-hatched tartan style engraving on all external walls and a cast thumb lip with flowers and leaves. Richly gilded inside with a very ornate pierced grill with flowers and scrolling vines with finely engraved detail. A small cartouche on the lid engraved with the initials MC. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1837, maker Nathaniel Mills.

It measures 4cm by 3cm wide and 1cm deep, and weighs 28g/0.9ozt. Condition is excellent with no damage or dents. Surface wear is very light; a little rubbing at the very edges of the box but the engraving is nice and crisp on all sides. There is a tiny pinprick mark on the reverse. The gilding is nice and bright and the hallmarks are clear.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
