Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Sheraton style furniture originated in the late 18th century, named after designer Thomas Sheraton. It is characterised by Neoclassical proportions, geometric or rectilinear open backs, slender turned or tapered legs, and fine timber construction.

Sheraton pieces predominantly utilise dense mahogany or satinwood for frame construction, often detailed with reeding, fluting, or marquetry. Seats were historically padded using natural webbing and horsehair, covered in woven silk, wool, or damask fabrics.

Authentic period chairs feature hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, natural timber oxidisation beneath seat rails, and slight irregularities from hand-carving. The backs typically display delicate geometric splats, such as interlaced ovals or lyres, supported by reeded front legs.

These refined chairs pair exceptionally well with contemporary glass or minimal oak dining tables to create an eclectic aesthetic. Reupholstering the padded seats in modern neutral linens or textured textiles can also seamlessly integrate them into updated spaces.

Keep wooden frames away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber shrinkage or joint loosening. Apply high-grade beeswax polish annually along the wood grain and clean fabric upholstery using gentle vacuuming or specialist textile methods.
