1930s Full Hunter Chronometer Pocket Watch

A 1930s full hunter chronometer pocket watch.

The watch has a high grade stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with a small logo which is possibly for Louis Fernier & Frères of Besançon. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold plated and was made by J Bréguet-Breting who registered the JBB mark in 1910. The case has an attractive sun burst design to both the front and the back. There are some small dots across the case but other than that, it is in good condition.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens. Original glass lenses were often replaced with acrylic as it is a much more durable material.

The white enamel dial has the wording, 'Chronometre de haute precision” (high precision chronometer), Besançon (which was the equivalent of Kew Observatory where chronometers were officially timed and verified). There is a patch of damage between 10 and 11, and a couple of faint hairlines at number 3. There is a little marking to the hands.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
