The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1940s.
Zodiac started life in 1882 when Ariste Calame set up a workshop in Le Locle in Switzerland. He registered the Zodiac name in 1908 although the name was used before then. Calame's son Louis took over the business and the first flat pocket watch was produced in 1928.

This particular watch with a calibre 10 hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Zodiac Ltd.
The watch measures 27.5mm wide excluding the winding crown and 27.5mm high excluding the lugs so it would suit a slim wrist. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1948 with a case maker's mark for Aaron Dennison. The back of the watch has a date of 5-7-49 and the initials EMB – WJC. The case is in very nice condition, as is the lens.

The signed dial is in good condition with just a little minor marking if viewed very closely. Feuille shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.
A new leather strap has been fitted.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
