A fabulous Japanese Meiji period Tokyo school mixed media wood cutter okimono depicting a burley bronze man with a beautiful patina in the process of sawing a huge Sugi wood trunk, resting at an angle on stand, the saw sits in the man’s hand and penetrates part of the wood to give the effect of action. This splendid okimono is beautifully detailed and in excellent condition, signed on the back of the man’s coat and on his pouch, it measures 17 inches in length standing 16 ½ inches tall.
