Superb Antique English Claret Jug C.1880

Description

A fabulous and highly decorative Claret jug, made from English crystal with alternate panels of wheel engraved floral and folate vignettes and deep hobnail cut panels.

The silver plated fittings are a joy, very grand looking with the top of the handle in the form of Lion and the figural spout in the form of the face of Bacchus, the god of wine. Unmarked which is quite common on these Claret jugs, dating to the late Victorian era. A really super quality example.

Excellent condition spanning 5 3/4" spout to handle; the base diameter measuring 5 1/4" and standing 11 1/2" tall.
