Late 19th.c. Rosewood Envelope Card Table C.1890

Description

Fine quality late 19th.c. rosewood envelope card table c.1890. Square top divided into four triangular sections (like the back of an envelope) with symmetrically arranged rosewood veneers, each section inlaid with satinwood stringing and a crisp marquetry frieze featuring a Classical urn and scrolling acanthus leaves. Turn and open the top to make a 33" square card table for four with the original green baize playing surface. Rosewood apron with satinwood stringing and a single slim drawer with mahogany linings and drawer front with further marquetry inlays and original brass handles. On slim tapering square legs, also strung in satinwood, with spade feet and original small brass castors. Excellent condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops.
