Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1910s.
The box stands on four pretty feet and is beautifully shaped. The lid is decorated with a combination of engine turning surrounded by a pretty engraved border. There is a vacant circular cartouche to the centre.
The box opens to reveal a gilded finish to the interior of the lid and the original velvet lining.
The box is a great size measuring 5 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 1 3/4" tall. Fully hallmarked for London 1918, exactly 100 years old and a true antique box, Excellent condition.
