Brass Bound Camphorwood Campaign Chest C.1880.

Description

Good example of the classic late 19th.c. military officer’s campaign chest c.1880. In solid camphorwood, a fragrant and pest resistant timber which helped protect contents during passage, further strengthened with brass corners and bindings. Fitted with a small lidded compartment to the inside. Retaining the original brasswork, flush-fitting handle to the lid, lockplate and heavy duty carry handles to each side. Also original brass plaque to the lid stamped with the initials AMO. Good colour and condition, simply cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
