C19th Anglo Indian Carved Camel Table

19th century
Description

Exceptional C19th Anglo Indian carved camel table; a good quality example with fine carving. The unusual shaped square top, with protruding circular corners, having a central square panel and a border profusely carved in relief, with trailing foliage. The narrow gadrooned moulded edge above a carved shaped frieze, with a large tapering finial to each corner. The naturalistically carved camel with his saddle, rug and hanging tassle straps. His head raised and tilted to the side, wearing a bridle. Stood on an elongated octagonal plinth base, carved with a geometrical design pattern, with a gadrooned and leaf carved, moulded edge. Good patination - not stripped and repolished.
