Circa 1897 Pair Gilded Girandoles

Description

A pair of gilt painted cast iron girandoles with the original bevelled mirrors. The registration marks on the back date them to be from around 1897.

They are very heavy and well made and measure 35.5 cm in length and 24.5 in width; the glass of the mirrors measure 13cm x 10cm. They were repainted in a gilt paint by the previous owner a few years ago.

Each one has two brass and copper candle holders in the early Arts and Crafts design. The copper candle cups are floral in shape and have decorative copper twisted around the brass arms, and they are slotted into position and the angle can be adjusted on all of them.

The mirrors have the original backing with 'British Silvered Mirror' clearly marked.
