A superb and very fine solid silver hot water jug of lovely proportions. The body of the jug is in baluster form with a lower half featuring a lovely fluted design and sits on a circular spreading foot. The lid is hinged on one side and opens and closes neatly with a nicely shaped wooden finial surmounted on the top and matching fluted decoration. The beak spout enhances the handsome proportions. There is a wooden ebonised handle to the side. Clear and crisp hallmarks are visible to one side for the Sheffield Assay Office with a date mark for 1922 along with the Lion Passant indicating sterling silver. The maker’s marks are also very clear for the renowned silversmiths: Goldsmiths & Silversmiths.
