Silver Prestex Lever pocket watch by Prestons Ltd.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Prestex Lever, a name which was registered by Prestons SA in 1927. Prestons was listed as a manufacturer of watches and watch parts, and they were based in Biel, Switzerland. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover. Various signs suggests that this movement is not original to the case.

The watch itself measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London 1918, which confirms that the case and movement are not original to each other. Overall the case is in good condition for such an early piece, there are a couple of dings towards the side of the case. The engine turned detail is still nice and crisp. The front has blue enamel filled Roman numerals surrounding a small lens. The front cover does quite close 100%, but it is secure.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is a later gold plated bezel with an acrylic lens. The double sunk dial is signed Prestons Ltd. The dial looks good to the naked eye, if viewed very closely, there are a couple of short hairline cracks near the very edge. Blued steel hands (including the special half hunter hour hand so the hands can be distinguished between when the front cover is closed), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
