Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
It has a lift up lid revealing storage and the seat has been newly re-upholstered in a brocade fabric. Stamped underneath “WBLD”.

Condition Report:
Solid and sturdy. Good patina and figuring to the mahogany. There are marks where the hinges have changed at some point – the seat is possibly not original to the base, although a good match. It has been newly reupholstered. An old mended split to the arm (see photos).
