Rare antique Waltham pocket watch, 1897.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 7,533,771 dates it back to 1897. This is a rare Waltham movement with a total production of just 2,500 pieces (2000 made in 1897 and 500 made in 1903). The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover... there are scratches and marks to this inner cover, and some unevenness.

The watch itself measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and was made by the Crescent Watch Case Company, originally guaranteed to wear for 25 years. The case has a little unevenness to the back but overall is in a decent condition for such an early piece.

The watch glass is in good condition, just a little nibbling to the bevelled edge.

The signed dial is charming and unusual with inset jewels, possibly small rubies and hand painted numbers and minute markers. There are several faint hairline cracks.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
