Wonderful Ladys Fitted Dressing Case

Description

A truly superb fully-fitted LADY'S DRESSING & JEWELLERY BOX in very fine original and complete condition.

The brass-bound coromandel-wood box opens to reveal the stunning array of ELEVEN engraved silver-gilt bottles and jars, all with central GOLD cartouches engraved with the original owners initials. These include a solid silver-gilt beaker, 3.5ins high, and a tray of 8 tools including a silver-gilt propelling pencil.

The lid contains a fine gilt-brass easel mirror, with a gilt-tooled leather documents pouch whilst the base has a fitted velvet-lined jewellery drawer with a VERY secret method of access! Signed: "West, makers to Her Majesty, St. James's, London." Complete with original working Bramah key. Hallmarked: London 1853.
