The raised carved back having a Stemma Nobile or coat of arms flanked by crouching winged dragons (who are Guardians of the Stemma ) above a stunning example of marquetry folk art inlaid with fruitwood and bone.

The seat lifts up to reveal a very useful storage space hence why they are called a Cassapanca which translates from Italian to “chest-bench”
Flanking the seat are two mythical winged half man half beast figures with female mask below raised on carved mask feet.

A stunning example of North Italian cabinet making and marquetry offered in excellent condition with a fine colour and patina having been wax polished using traditional methods.
