Stunning Antique Sterling Silver Reticulated Basket - William Comyns

Description

An exceptional solid or sterling silver double handled pierced basket by the famous English silversmith, William Comyns.

The workmanship is top-notch, very typical of Comyns' work .. a plethora of stunning hearts, flower and foliate decoration and the tips of the handles blessed with adorable cherubs heads.

Superb condition and measuring 6 1/2" across the handles and standing 1 1/2" tall. The silver is of good gauge, the dish weighing 2.96 ounces or 84 grams.

The underside of the dish is where the clear hallmark can be found for London 1892, a true Victorian example.
