Description

This is an antique French Kingwood desk which is commonly know in the trade as a Bureau Plat. It's a very grand piece of furniture & looks good from all angles as it's also finished well on the back. The tooled leather writing surface is original & in good shape, with plenty of character. Please enlarge all the images especially to view the well cast gilt bronze mounts which are very abundant. The gilding is naturally aged, so not too shiny. I would date this desk to around the 1920's period & it's in excellent condition. We do have a working key for the front three drawers. This Bureau Plat has a wonderful shape all over & looks like it's come straight out of a Versailles Palace.
