Description

Very rare pair of mid 19th.c. table screens c.1840. Designed to prevent diners from the indignity of watching or being watched while eating! Modelled as miniature versions of a classic fireside pole screen. With original hand embroidered panels behind glass, within gilded slips and pollard oak frames. Turned and carved columns and tricorn bases with turned feet. A small crack to the glass on one screen. Otherwise excellent condition with original pleated silk backs.
