Description

A top quality 20 drawer collectors cabinet almost certainly by the well known maker, jansen. This cabinet is not labelled or plated thus but having handled many over the years I would place this one firmly in the stable marked 'jansen'.

The cabinet is in solid and finely figured honduras mahogany and is of a de-luxe grade of not only timber but build. The drawers are solid mahogany with closely fitted glazed frame tops and a hidden universal cell runs around the entire inner drawer. This is a cabinet which will serve many collecting purposes but is emminently aimed at the entomologist.

Cabinets of this quality are rare now and seldom come on the market. This cabinet has 20 drawers running smoothly on hidden bearer runners, the original working lock and key and the original velvet sealing tape around the carcass where it meets the door. The drawers are side and base lined with cartridge paper which would be improved by replacement and the drawer bases are corked under the paper.
