Georgian Scottish Longcase Grandfather Clock Coutts Burntisland

Description

A Georgian period Scottish oak longcase clock. A well proportioned case of slim proportions. A swan neck hood pediment with fretwork panels. Brass patterae and a central brass finial. Brass capped fluted hood columns and fluted trunk side columns. The original plinth skirting. An attractive arched painted dial with floral corners and floral vase to the top. Blued steel hands with date and seconds indicators. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

Coutts of Burntisland is recorded in Whytes' 'Scottish Clock and watchmakers book working in 1795. Burtnisland is a Royal Burgh on the Firth of Forth.
