~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

An exquisite small sized boudoir or desk clock, beautifully formed in the sought after Louis XVI lyre shape. It is finely figured walnut mounted with ormolu (fine gilded bronze). To the top is a sunburst motif with the brass and blued steel 'strings' below. The pretty dial is decorated with delicately painted floral swags between the numerals.

Hands are finely fretted gilt brass. The French movement is of high quality and is by the renown maker A. D. Mougin. It has a reliable lever escapement and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker and requires no setting up. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell.

Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The walnut is also excellent with just the occasional light mark. The dial is also in excellent condition with no damage.

A.D. Mougin clockmaker's mark on the movement backplate.

Complete with bell and a suitable key. No setting up required with a platform escapement.
