Antique Polished Bronze And Crocodile / Alligator Photograph Frame C.1880

It''s not often that one find''s these totally original Victorian Crocodile / Alligator skin photograph frames.
 
This is by the top-notch London retailer, Thornhill & Co. @ 144 Bond Street in Mayfair. Thornhill acquired the royal warrants of appointment to Queen Victoria, the Prince and Princess of Wales as well as other members of the royal family.
 
The frame is polished bronze with a polished bronze filigree mount with the Crocodile skin showing through. The skin is a gorgeous Cognac colour with a good glossy patina.
 
The back retains the original folding easel stand which is where the signature can be found.
 
A really grand frame and a good impressive size measuring 11'' x 6 7/8'' with a glazed aperture measuring 7 3/4'' x 3 3/4''.
